DESCRIPTION:Please join us as Morris Taft Thomas does a presentation and
  signing for his latest book\, Art and Vision: A Family Tradition. Mr. T
 homas has won numerous awards and recognitions for his many talents. Mos
 t notably he made a White House Christmas Tree Ornament and attended the
  festivities in 2001\, received Louisiana’s Governor's Art Award from 
 Governor Mike Foster (2008)\, received commendations from the State Legi
 slature (2018)\, and so much more. He is also the author of Contribution
 s of Negro Artists in Louisiana (1972) and Eminent Black Artists in Loui
 siana (1975).\n\nHis work is in many public and private collections. Som
 e of his public works are located at LSU in Baton Rouge\, University of 
 Louisiana at Lafayette\, the Alexandria Museum of Art\, Southern Univers
 ity Museum of Art\, the Abbeville Museum of Art\, the White House Archiv
 es\, and the City of Alexandria. Notable private collectors include: B.B
 . King\, Yolanda King\, former South African President Nelson Mandela\, 
 the estate of Alex Haley\, and the estate of President Jimmy Carter. He 
 is also a huge supporter and advocate for the Rapides Parish Library and
  an esteemed member of the RPL Board of Control.\n\nThere will be a door
