DESCRIPTION:On November 4th\, the Alexandria Lions Club Branch will be 
 hosting the first annual Strides for Diabetes Awareness Family Fun Run.\
 n\nLions Clubs International is committed to helping communities become 
 aware of diabetes and its serious complications. The international heal
 th community expects that diabetes will affect 380 million by 2025. Thr
 ough Strides events\, Lions increase diabetes awareness and join the ef
 fort to prevent\, control and eventually overcome the risks through Dia
 betes.\n\nProceeds from the event will be sent to the Louisiana Lions Ca
 mp in Anacoco\, specifically to help with medicine and supplies for the
  week dedicated to kids with Type 1 diabetes. This camp provides an opp
 ortunity for youth ages 6 to 14\, who live with Type 1 diabetes\, to le
 arn about their disease and get to know others who face the same challe
 nges. The overall goal of the camp is to provide a safe\, highly supervi
 sed\, recreational experience for children with diabetes.
