The Arts Council of Central Louisiana presents Collage Dance Collective, on March 7, 2025. Recently named a Southern Cultural Treasure by SouthArts and the Ford Foundation, Collage Dance Collective is one of the fastest growing dance companies in the U.S. The dynamic program of mixed repertory includes Princess Grace award winner Joshua Manculich’s Come Rain or Shine, an intertwining pas de quatre demonstrating our connectedness and hopefulness in every season of life’s journey, plus Hope Boykin’s self-reflective newest piece I Am My Work, Durante Verzola’s refreshing neo-classical ballet Luminescent set to the music of Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a pioneering Black 18th-Century composer of classical music, and Amy Hall Garner’s jubilant Bluff City Blues, set to the music of legendary Blues musicians and drawing inspiration from Collage Dance’s hometown of Memphis.
One of the largest 50 ballet companies in the U.S., Collage’s trademark style of balancing innovation and tradition has fueled its ascent and captured the hearts of its growing family of supporters.
At the heart of Collage Dance Collective’s mission lies a commitment to providing equitable access to classical dance training, especially for communities of color. The establishment of its dance conservatory in Memphis serves as a testament to this dedication, offering rigorous instruction to aspiring dancers and preparing them for collegiate and professional pursuits in the dance world. By nurturing talent from underrepresented backgrounds and fostering a supportive environment, Collage Dance empowers individuals to pursue their artistic dreams and break barriers in an industry historically marked by exclusion.
